About Ascension Ethicists

 Ethicists are trained experts within the field of Bioethics  who provide subject matter expertise in decision-making aligned with our Mission, Values, Catholic identity and the Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Care Services. When patients, families and/or surrogate decision-makers view a clinical situation differently than the care team, Ethics services support clinical care that honors and respects the professional obligations of clinicians and the dignity of the patient and family in the spirit of our Mission. When strategic or operational goals appear to be at odds with one another, ethicists can support leaders by providing an impartial view and expertise in critical thinking within the context of our Mission.
